Full success for the 2024 races

After two intensive weeks, the entire organising committee for the European Cup and World Cup races in Crans-Montana can be proud of its work. The 2024 races were a huge success, not only for the athletes but also for the spectators and the organisers.

Despite a difficult start, the two European Cup races were finally held on Sunday 11 February on the upper part of the track (World Cup start to exit of the traverse). These races were won by France's Karen Clément and Bosnia-Herzegovina's Elvedina Muzaferija.

The following week, the World Cup athletes battled it out on the Mont Lachaux track. Three spectacular races took place in sunshine and temperatures that were more than pleasant for the public, but difficult for the staff on the track. They pulled off a minor miracle to hold the three races as scheduled between 16 and 18 February. A Swiss double on Friday (Gut-Behrami, Flury), an Italian double on Saturday (Bassino, Brignone) and an Austrian victory on Sunday (Venier) launched the festivities for the 37,000 spectators in attendance.

This 2024 edition was also the last for the president of the organising committee, Marius Robyr. Together with Hugo Steinegger, they initiated a new World Cup era in Crans-Montana, established the destination on the international calendar, and brought the World Championships back to Crans-Montana, 40 years after the legendary races of 1987.

Next stop: the men will come back to Crans-Montana for World Cup races on 1 and 2 March 2025. Two speed events will be held on the National slope, starting from Bellalui, and will see Marco Odermatt & co fight for the victory on the Haut-Plateau.
