How to be a responsible fan?
Attending the Ski World Championships in Crans-Montana is a unique experience in the heart of the Swiss Alps. But it is also a responsibility: preserving the mountains, respecting local residents, and contributing to a sustainable event.
Every action counts. By adopting a few simple habits, every spectator can help make the event more respectful of the environment, the local area, and the people involved, while helping us achieve our sustainability goals.
1. Travel sustainably
Transport represents a significant part of an event’s environmental impact. To reduce your carbon footprint:
- Choose trains and public transport whenever possible.
- Use the official shuttle services provided.
- Opt for carpooling whenever possible.
2. Reduce waste
A sustainable event relies on the responsible management of resources.
- After use, return reusable tableware to the designated collection points.
- Use the recycling and waste bins available on site.
- Sort your waste correctly.
- Do not leave any litter in nature.
3. Respect nature and the mountains
The mountains are a fragile ecosystem that must be protected.
- Stay on marked paths and do not enter protected areas.
- Respect the peace and wellbeing of the animals you may encounter and keep a safe distance.
- Take all your waste with you when leaving an area and dispose of it properly in the appropriate bins.
4. Consume locally and responsibly
Supporting the local economy is part of a sustainable approach.
- Discover Valais local gastronomy in the event areas.
5. Adopt respectful behaviour
A sustainable event is also a human event.
- Use fair, balanced, and respectful language.
- Support the athletes in a spirit of fair play.
- Respect other spectators.
- Respect employees and volunteers.
- Always follow the instructions given by staff.
- Be inclusive, open-minded, and respectful towards everyone. Discrimination has no place at the World Championships.
Together, let’s make a difference. Thank you for supporting us and committing to this effort alongside us.
