The mascotte for the World Championships was unveiled this Friday. It’s a beanie with a big, cheerful smile, brought to life in the colors of the event’s organization. Friendly and fun, Tsapé promises to delight both young and old throughout the races this weekend on the Haut-Plateau.
With its big eyes and mischievous smile, the mascotte for the upcoming World Ski Championships made its debut this Friday in Crans-Montana. Tsapé, which simply means "hat" in the local dialect, will energize the World Cup weekend and accompany us all the way to the major event in 2027. "Thanks to this mascotte, the World Championships have a playful, visual, and essential element for communicating around the event," said Didier Défago, General Director of the Crans-Montana 2027 Association.
A Mascotte Created by Children
Children played a key role in the creation of Tsapé—an obvious choice for an event that aims to inspire young people to engage with winter sports, as reflected in its slogan, #InspiringTheFuture. A drawing contest was organized in collaboration with the Department of Education of the Canton of Valais. Around a hundred classes from Lower to Upper Valais participated in the project, with each child having the chance to submit their vision for the mascotte. From over 1,400 submissions, the final selection was made.
"Involving the younger generation in our event is something we truly care about," said Didier Défago. "We’re doing it for them, but also with them. The Department of Education immediately loved the idea and contributed to the project."
The Winning Idea: A Beanie
In the end, the big winner was young Adam from Fully. The student, originally from Morocco, decided to draw a beanie because it "perfectly represents snow and skiing."
Initially, he considered drawing a polar bear but decided against it, as it seemed too difficult. By choosing a simpler object, he managed to convince the jury.
Our ambassador, Malorie Blanc, Didier Défago, and Vincent Ebenegger, a scientific advisor responsible for sports in schools in the Canton of Valais, visited Adam’s class to share the exciting news. "The winner’s reaction was incredible—every child in the class had stars in their eyes and only wanted one thing: to go skiing," Didier Défago said with joy.
A Mascotte for All Generations
The beanie mascotte was then designed and modeled by Octane Communication in Sion to ensure it could be animated and, of course, to confirm that the mascotte could actually ski. The childlike nature of Tsapé, complete with a real pompom, promises to charm all generations. The beanie used as the inspiration for the mascotte is available for purchase starting this weekend at the event’s venues, with more merchandise expected to be released in the future.
Tsapé can also be worn. Buy the official Crans-Montana 2027 beanie on the Swiss-Ski store.
